Dear Parents and Guardians:

I hope you have enjoyed the summer respite from school schedules. At Xaverian we are ready to begin another new school year. Beginning the academic journey this September with a positive attitude gears oneself for sure success. The new year offers every Xaverian student the opportunity to start fresh since there is no history in any class. I invite all students and parents, as part of the Xaverian Community, to join our minds and hearts in a commitment to doing our best for one another. Everyone brings unique gifts and everyone’s contribution is necessary if we are to thrive as a school. Yes, we expect a lot from one another as we begin a new school year. Striving for more is not a bad thing. No athlete or artist achieves much without practicing for years. Don’t let fear of failure stop your son from exercising his mind and taking the necessary risks for expanding his world. It is about falling and getting up, about trying and beginning all over again. Ultimately, all that we are and all that we have are gifts from God who does infinitely more for us than we can imagine. With faith and confidence in God, let us take the first steps into our new school year with the Prayer of the Iona Community of Scotland:

You, the God of all time, In all this you keep us, through hard questions with no easy answers, through failing where we hoped to succeed, and making an impact when we felt useless, through the patience and the dreams and the love of others, and through Jesus Christ and his Spirit you keep us.

Welcome to the 2011-2012 school year.
